Organizational Capacity Building"At its essence, WLP is a builder of networks. We develop partnerships with grassroots and established affinity organizations in different countries, then help nurture the effectiveness of these organizations by building their capacity and connecting them with other partners, international decision-makers, and WLP's own resources. Partners, in turn, nurture WLP." WLP aims to achieve widespread, sustainable change through cooperation with partner organizations. WLP activities strengthen the capacity of partners and other groups in over 25 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East, who in turn mobilize hundreds of local organizations, who in turn train thousands of grassroots community members to be strong, motivated advocates for change. WLP provides multidimensional and flexible capacity building, supporting partners to build strong, sustainable organizations. We enable partners to develop the skills and access the resources, curriculum and technological tools they need to implement trainings in leadership and empowerment and ICTs. We connect partner organizations with international social justice networks and support their efforts to build regional networks to advance women's rights. To increase the visibility of our partners' work, we support partner campaigns, organize events, and publicize partner activities through our website, eNews, and media outlets. We are currently developing new curriculum on organizational capacity building that will address organizational development, program evaluation, and innovative forms of training delivery. Learning Across Borders: Kyrgyz Students Discuss Women’s Rights and Islam with Asma KhaderSince its launch in September 2008, WLP's peer-exchange strategic planning and capacity building initiative has been a resounding success. Over the past year, we have seen fruitful exchanges between partners in several countries, including Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, and Nigeria. Our peer collaboration model has already evolved far beyond our initial hopes, producing not only deep organizational analyses and real results, but also a new level of creativity, outreach, and relationship building among partners and across regions.
