Tolekan Ismailova's Statement to Supporters

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

Thank you for your support and interest in my temporary departure from Kyrgyzstan.

The situation related to the threats against me and my family will hopefully attract the attention of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, and lead to a professional investigation in response to my official statement on Azattyk radio July 6, 2010. For all that I said I bear full legal responsibility.

The society of Kyrgyzstan should not accept such facts and hide them, afraid that an independent evaluation won’t be made and that no one would be held responsible before the law.

I hope that the new government, under the President of the transitional period, Mrs. Rosa Otunbayeva, can start work by respecting the highest standards of the rule of law, human rights and development. I believe that the government itself will initiate an international investigation of the tragic events in Kyrgyzstan that occurred in April and June, and guarantee the safety of human rights defenders and journalists.

Уважаемые коллеги и друзья,

спасибо за вашу подержку и ваш интерес по вопросу моего срочного временного выезда из Кыргызстана.

Ситуация связанная с угорозами против меня и моей семьи надеюсь вызовет особое внимание со стороны МДВ КР, и будет проведено профессиональное расследование по моему официальному заявлению по радио "Азаттык" 6 июля 2010 года. За все что я заявила несу полную ответственность перед Законом.

Общество Кыргызстана не должно мириться с такими фактами и скрывать их, боясь, что не будет дана соответствующая оценка и не последует ответственность перед Законом.

Я надеюсь,. что новое руководство страны, возглавляемое Президентом переходного периода госпожой Розой Отунбаевой смогут начать и работать соблюдая высокие стандарты верховенства закона, прав человека и развития. Я верю. что оно само инициирует международное расследование апрельских и июньских трагическиих событий в Кыргызстане, гарантируя безопасность работы защитников прав человека и журналистов.
