Essay Contest: Audience Choice Awards & Certificates

Posted on 11 March 2010 by wlp

The last announcement for WLP’s Youth Essay Contest – Audience Choice Awards.

Audience Choice Awards are given to the essays that generated the most number of comments and fostered substantive discussion on the topic. To recognize the contribution of a broader group of participants, prize winning essays were excluded from this category. This includes prize winners Nadine, Temitayo, and Eyinade, who fostered a stimulating discussion–thanks to each of you and all the other finalists for participating in and encouraging a lively dialogue.

The essay review committee would also like to recognize Shi Min Tan (Malaysia) for engaging in constructive commenting and providing inspiring feedback to her fellow participants.

All essay contest finalists will receive a certificate of commendation. Thanks to Achmad Zulfikar (Indonesia) for this suggestion.

All essay contest participants are encouraged to continue promoting their ideas and to make a difference in the world. Feel free to publish your essays in other news media (of course, we would appreciate a reference to the WLP Youth Essay Contest and a link back to your original essay).

It is befitting that the essay contest draws to a close in 2010, which is UN’s International Year of Youth. Thanks to each one of your essays, we feel inspired and hopeful for our collective future.

Thank you WLP for giving us the opportunity to participate in this very interesting competition! In fact, I was touched by all the comments that I received. This was great experience, not because I got recognition but because i could open the eyes of my friends on an important issue in our country. I would like to thank all my friends, teachers and family for the support!

I would like to thank WLP for giving our students the opportunity to participate in such a contest and write their ideas about an important subject in our country. They didn’t raise the problem only but they tried to suggest solutions. Congratulations to all participants…. Congratulations to all the winners.
May I take the opportunity to congratulate Nadine and Riad from my country Lebanon and I wish that one day… YES … You can do something… so my kids may grow up in a place with no discrimination…
    Thank you all…
